Matthews Fifth Birthday Weekend
12 January 2009 10:05 am
We have all had a really good weekend.
It was vastly taken up with Matthews birthday.
I spent Saturday morning cooking all the party treats and prepping salad. Bf took Matthew out for a ride in the car to give me a little more space. They went off to an electrical shop and came home with an X Box 360. Not for Matthew but for bf. It's his new toy. We got our tax return at the end of the week so we treated ourselves. There is a good side to being self employed.
Once they were home, my uncle turned up. I had to leave him with the boys to get myself showered and dressed ready to go out. We took Matthew to McD's for lunch since it was right next to the bowling place more or less and then we met up with everyone at the bowling centre.
We had to wait an hour to get 2 lanes but it was fun. 10 of us bowled and bf's mum and sister in law sat out so they looked after James for us all for a couple of hours.
We headed off home and ate a nice selection of food and Matthew opened all his presents. He got a Ben 10 picture, Incredible Hulk glowing Mask, Megablocks and a few other pieces I've already forgotten. We saved the cards for Sunday.
We did get a few nice pics.
Yep, that's a Doctor Who theme going on. Table cloth, plates and serviettes.
The birthday cake as made by bf's mum. It is a TARDIS (Doctor Who's mode of transportation) It did collapse a little in transition from her house to ours so we cleverly propped it up with some mini rolls. Inside was a chocolate sponge with buttercream and chocolate spread filling. Everyone said it tasted great. I don't like cake. Matthew didn't eat any either, I think he was too excited.
The birthday boy with the cake!
The birthday boy with the big birthday present Sunday morning. He had to wait until his birthday for this one but he loved it. He is still in his Superman pj trousers here, it's not that he and his mummy have strange dress sense.
On Sunday we spent 3 hours getting to a destination 1 hour away. The M25 - the major ringroad around London - had suffered an accident with lorries which meant we were stuck in tailbacks for 2 hours. We were heading for Ikea, Lakeside and Toys R Us, Matthew didn't really see too much that he wanted to buy with his £60 birthday money. So he just got himself a Nintendo DS case, spare pens for it and a Toy Story light gun from the Disney Store. He still has over £45 left so we will have a trip to town later this week.
All is normal today. Bf's at work, Matthews at school. I'm waiting in for Guitar Hero for the Wii and I am very excited about it as it is MINE. I've had a go at the demo on the X Box (using buttons, not guitar) and I am pretty good on that but it's very limited. I better be off as a little man is getting a little fussy.
And here is the sweet little bubba listening to his nan's voice on the phone.
