Day Before Mothers Day 2009. New Job.
21 March 2009 12:41 pm
Today my darling little boy is 20 weeks old!!!! Where has the time gone? I will be 14 weeks pregnant tomorrow too and I am now due in just less than 6 months. Eeeek.
I've been a little more social again this week in general. Yesterday especially. I spent the morning at Sharons and that was good. We also had my brother and his fiancee drop in. Her kids go to school and pre-school with Sharons kids so they know each other too and the three little ones (Isabel, Shelby and James) were really good while the older 3 (Ethan, Abby and Matthew) were all at school.
Last night I got a few hours freedom and went round a friends house for a girly evening. Emma moved into a new flat the other week so me and Tiam went for a while. It was really nice just to escape for a few hours and spend a couple of hours with a pair of friends I don't see often enough without the pressure of being out in town. I quite HATE trying to be social when I feel like I don't fit in with modern society anymore. I don't drink, I've not got the young free lifestyle I used to have so I don't feel like I belong so much. I've become too self conscious about feeling fat and I never switch off from thinking like a mother these days. I am frustrated with myself over all of it. We just sat around having a girly gossip drinking diet coke and cups of tea and watched "The Last Kiss" but we couldn't have been far from the end when my taxi turned up to take me home. So I missed how it ended but I assume the main pair got back together and had a happy ending. Quite a nice film though since I don't normally do chick flicks.
Bf has got another new job. He starts on Tuesday. He is going back to being a chef! He liked his job he was doing testing out electronics but it was only part time and we were having to rely on overtime which is quite hard as we can't budget as we don't know when we'll be due a good or bad week. So he is going to work at a local pub where he worked years ago as a grill chef. He worked at the same pub about 10 years ago with exactly the same job role. It's just a case of a new menu and management so I know he'll do really well with it. The hours may not be as good but the pay is better and we are guarenteed 40 hours a week so we will be better off over all. Weekly pay also helps greatly. Then hopefully, as soon as finances are settled I will be able to get on with some driving lessons at long last. Things have been a little too up in the air the last month or two.
It will be good to have some stability again since things have never been THAT stable. Even when he was a builder there'd be very good weeks and very bad weeks. It's always been a bit of a juggling act.
Tomorrow it is Mothers Day here in good old Blighty. We are going to bf's mum's for dinner with the whole family. His brother and sister in law are visiting from London and his sister is back from uni for the weekend so we are all invited for the day.
Originally, we offered to invite his mum and my parents for a barbecue today. However, everyone already had plans. We couldn't plan it too far in advance since we never know what the weather is going to do so that was scrapped. We'll call round my mums sometime tomorrow too to drop off a card. She already has her present that we got the other day. She was given a terracotta pot with lots of different coloured little plants in it. It looked lovely and she already has it outside her front door.
I have been trying to cook some more adventurous stuff all this week to get out of a dinnertime rut and all has been going quite well. This evening I am attempting a chicken biryani (indian rice dish) but so far I am really pleased with the morroccan lamb casserole I cooked earlier in the week. That was delicious. Oh and I do love potatoes with mint lately!!! Mashed potato with mint jelly mixed in is just heavenly!!! :)
I do have a thing for meat this pregnancy. I also love peanuts although it varies from week to week as to whether it's safe to eat them or not. I just have a few in moderation. Can't be any worse than those who are addicted to paint and tar fumes!!! They say it's a "boy thing" to have cravings for meat, cheese and salt but with my two little men, I just wanted fruit which is supposed to be a "girl thing".
