Pretty but damn damn cold!!!!
02 February 2009 9:41 am
This is the scene we awoke to this morning. It had been snowing on and off most of yesterday but it got considerably heavier as the evening went on.
Then from Matthews bedroom window we have this lovely winter garden scene.
The large building in the background is the school Matthew goes to so we have no problem getting to school at all. It is just a two minute walk so we were quite lucky.
When we got to the school the kids were outside playing snowballs. Matthew joined in for a bit but all the children were having to go through the main school reception rather than in their normal rooms. Then we were also given forms stating that if the snow becomes heavy we are to collect the children from school and to not wait until the normal hometime at 3.10pm. In the last 20 minutes the snow seems to have stopped completely although snow showers are predicted through to Wednesday. It's going to be a funny week.
I had a really good weekend. On Saturday we spent much of the day with bf's mum and then had a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, Sharon and I went out for a nice chinese meal. I was SO looking forward to that and must confess to making a bit of a pig of myself but I really did enjoy it. I love chinese and it's one thing I wish I had more of. :)
We then went to a couple of the towns old pubs where there were some live bands and called in at an old haunt on the way back to the car.
The Hole In The Wall is one of Colchesters oldest and most historic pubs. The pub is built into the old roman wall that surrounds out town.
Situated next to the town theater, it was once a goth/heavy metal sort of place but has grown up alot since I last went. It is now a nice little place that has had a really big refurb since I last went but it was very pleasant for a quick drink before we headed home. Sharon was driving as it was SO cold so she wasn't drinking and I didn't feel like it either. I've barely drunk any alcohol since I've had James and I really don't miss it so I am continuing to try and stay as healthy as possible. I guess I'm just getting older when I don't feel the need to drink socially.
I've filled in my forms and now awaiting for my provisional license to come through so maybe, weather and finance permitting, I may have my first driving lesson sometime after my little holiday. I'd like to say next week, but it's booking lessons and paying for it before the break. We'll see.
