Sentimental and new kitchen so far

03 June 2008 11:13 am

Blame the pregnancy hormones again but yesterday I found myself feeling very sentimental.

It started with a potentially disappointing bit of news. Nothing is confirmed yet but there's a chance that bf might not be able to make it to our next scan on the 30th. It isn't his fault but he may be have to work away. He is hoping it will fall the week before or after the scan but he needs to work where the work needs him. He doesn't want to miss it either and I don't particularly go by myself and I don't know how Matthew would be at the scan without another adult to be with him. I really want Matthew to go to the scan too as he is so interested and excited by the whole baby idea.

The other thing that made me all sentimental was it suddenly hit me last night that next month is the last month Matthew will be at pre-school. He will get the 6 weeks summer holiday then it's going to be full time infant school. My little man is growing up and it makes me really emotional that so much is changing for us all in such a small amount of time. It's just quite overwhelming. Still, if I wasn't almost midway through this pregnancy I would barely be thinking like this.

In other news, I feel like I am living in a bedsit. The tumble dryer is next to the tv and is a temporary home for the kettle and toaster, mugs and coffee, tea and sugar canisters. The fridge freezer is in a little space between the sofa and fish tank and we have 5 boxes of cupboard fillings in the dining room.

The kitchen has had so much done already. We are on day 2 and on day 1 alone we have had the floor ripped up, the tiles knocked off, the walls smoothed down and plastered, all electric sockets have been changed, I even have extra sockets I never had before, then the undercoat went on the walls. Today the door frame and window frames have been glossed, the walls have been painted blue which is looking better than I expected. I never chose the colour, I let Matthew do it. At the moment we have no running water as the sink has been ripped out and they are now beginning to install a new sink and put the cupboards on the walls. I am getting new cupboards on a wall that was wasted before and getting a built in breakfast bar (in my words a shelf for the toaster and kettle and mugs hehehe but I will need some of those cool silver stools if I have a breakfast bar.

It's going well.
